Housing Justice
Housing is a human right. The fact that over 18,000 people are currently experiencing homelessness in Massachusetts and a quarter of residents are paying over half of their income housing is unacceptable. Large-scale landlords are artificially inflating housing prices by buying up homes and leaving them vacant. Rent increases are far outpacing wage increases and we must act before mass-homelessness is the new normal.
Together we will:
Together we will:
- Fight for The Place To Prosper Act at the state level which limits rent increases to 3% for properties owned by large landlords and stops unjust evictions
- Eradicate homelessness and housing insecurity through a large investment in green public housing and by massively investing in mental health facilities and rehabilitation centers
- Prioritize the descendants of slaves and the victims of red-lining in the fight for housing rights
- Stop forceful removal of homeless population from "Mass and Cass" and instead find and fund safe recovery housing and treatment facilities.
