Immigrant Rights

We are a nation of immigrants and must fully embrace those searching for better opportunities. Mass migration is in part caused by our own imperialism and colonization of the global south, our global advocacy for the failed war on drugs and our role in the climate crisis. We in many ways created the horrific conditions around the world that are causing people to flee their home countries, therefore it is our responsibility to offer them a second chance at a dignified and prosperous life. The policies of mass deportation and caging of children can not stand.

Together we will:

End all contracts with ICE and prohibit them from operating within our community by encouraging and promoting sanctuary cities, such as Salem's.
Demand more federal funds for housing, childcare, health care, job training and English classes
Ensure access to healthcare and other necessities to immigrants regardless of immigration status
Mandate that state agencies provide services and information in all of the languages that are represented in our diverse communities
Ensure right to driver’s licenses regardless of immigration status
