Seniors
When we say "More For The North Shore", seniors are a critical part of that vision. We are coming up short in terms of care for our elderly residents across issues, particularly in healthcare and housing. We cannot claim to be a state with moral courage until we address the poverty and neglect that our aging populations are too often being faced with.
Together we will:
Together we will:
- Expand our public healthcare system to cover long-term care and invest in home-based care as well as senior living centers to make long-term care universally affordable.
- Invest in scientific research and development to treat and eventually cure Alzhiemers, Dementia and other age-related diseases.
- Improve access to nutritious food and convenient exercise options through an elimination of food deserts, an increase in community parks and public funding for and regulation of senior living centers.
- Increase access to quality, reliable transportation for seniors
- Invest in anti-isolation methods including friendly phone-call services and mental health care.
- Eradicate senior homelessness and prioritize elderly homeless vets.
- Strengthen criminal penalties for financial predators of seniors and reimburse victims.
